Benefits

Hourly rate for Registered Nurses: $41.78–$64.81 per hour.

  • Evening Shift Differential – $3.00 per hour
  • Night Shift Differential – $4.00 per hour
  • Charge Nurse Differential – $1.00 per hour
  • Day Shift Weekend Differential – $2.90 per hour
  • Evening Shift Weekend Differential – $5.90 per hour
  • Night Shift Weekend Differential – $6.90 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to multiple surgical populations (ICU, general care, and outpatient).
  • Maintain patient airway, vital signs, and intake/output.
  • Monitor EKG, arterial line, pulmonary arterial catheter, etc.
  • Manage pain (patient‑controlled analgesia and epidural).
  • Participate as a member of the collaborative health team.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Prepare unit for pre‑operative patients (IV set‑up, chart review, H&P, consent).
  • Provide direct care for pre‑operative patients.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level: This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework Level

C. Actual nursing framework level and salary will be determined at the time of hire. Nursing framework levels range from Level A to Level

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5‑day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include dates of past employment (months and years). Positions fewer than 20 hours per week may be combined.

Required Qualifications
  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
  • Two (2) years of Adult Surgical ICU RN experience within the last three (3) years. Knowledge of multiple surgical procedures.
  • -OR
    - Two (2) years of Adult Emergency Department RN experience within the last three (3) years.
  • -OR
    - Two (2) years of current Adult PACU RN experience (minimum 20 hours per week) including caring for patients at an ICU level of care, within the last three (3) years.
  • Applicants must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
  • Resume required (for both internal & external applicants). Attach a complete and accurate resume to be fully considered for this position.
Desired Qualifications
  • BSN preferred.
  • Recent experience in PACU, ED, or ICU.
  • CPAN, CAPA, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
Work Schedule
  • Hours:

    36 hours per week.
  • Shift: 12‑hour shifts; shift start times of 8:00‑8:30 p.m. and 8:00‑8:30 a.m. Monday‑through‑Friday with a weekend requirement.
  • Location:

    University Hospital‑PACU.
  • On‑call and holiday requirements included.
  • New employees will be expected to float to designated unit(s) during times of low census.
Modes of Work

Positions eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change at any time.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U‑M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U‑M Professional Nurse Council union.
