Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Intensive Care Unit

Schedule: Flexi, variable hours

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Sentara Leigh Hospital Intensive Care Unit, AACN Gold Beacon Award recipient, is comprised of 20 licensed critical care beds with an average daily census of 18 patients. Staffing ratios vary: 1:1 to 1:3, with 1:2 as the usual assignment. ICU RNs provide critical care with ongoing education and skill validation supported by an experienced ICU CNS. The unit welcomes experienced nurses and offers an 11-week Transition to Practice orientation for practice in IMC areas.

An interdisciplinary care team supports ICU staff, including unit-based respiratory, physical, speech and occupational therapists, as well as interpreter, nutrition, palliative, chaplaincy and ethical services. Onsite and eICU pulmonary critical care intensivists and physician extenders are available 24/7. Daily physician-led, nurse-driven rounds exist for continuity of care and educational purposes.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered Nursing License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
