Overview
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Postpartum Mother-Baby Unit is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse who has compassion and patience for providing special care to our new Moms and Infants.
The Unit is a 30-bed unit. Nurses assess, ensure that proper healing is occurring, and provide self‑care education to our new Moms during the post‑partum stay. The unit encourages the new Mom to room with their new baby. The Mom‑Baby Nurse sees that the newborn is assessed, cleaned, fed, and swaddled, and educates the new Mom on proper infant care.
ShiftFull Time Night shift: 7pm-7am
LocationNorfolk, VA
Requirements- 1-year RN experience preferred, new grads welcome!
- Virginia or Compact Multi‑State License in good standing is REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) REQUIRED
- RN‑Associate’s Degree, or RN‑Bachelor’s Degree, or RN‑Diploma REQUIRED
- Assess newborn health and ensure they are cleaned, fed, and swaddled.
- Provide self‑care education to new mothers during postpartum stay.
- Ensure proper healing for mothers and infants.
- Educate mothers on infant care and support rooming‑in.
