Job Summary and Responsibilities

Hematology/Oncology APP Inpatient Position:

St. Joseph Medical Center, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. We pride ourselves in practicing high quality, evidence based, and patient centered medicine. We have a strong culture of collegiality and team approach to decision making. In our ongoing effort to expand our exceptional care to regions in the Puget Sound, we are looking for a well-trained, collegial, caring Advanced Practice Provider who is motivated to provide the best possible patient care in Tacoma, WA.

Expectations for inpatient APP position are as follows:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday-Friday
  • covering new consultations to oncology from ER and hospitalists, will be staffed with the oncology attending on call later that same day
  • follow-up existing oncology inpatients, and will be staffed with the oncology attending for that patient expected census of 10-15 patients for the service, responsibilities may be split with the attending, if larger volumes
Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Washington State ARNP license or active license prior to starting
  • Prior experience with EPIC a plus, but not required
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with physicians, and hospital staff, patients and their families
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Strong commitment to patient care team concept and privacy guidelines
