Nurse Practitioner Advanced Provider Response Unit (APRU)
Location:

Salary :$145,000 $190,000
Overview This position plays a vital role in strengthening community health outcomes through proactive, mobile engagement and high-quality clinical care. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) supports public health initiatives to reduce opioid-related morbidity and mortality, enhance continuity of care, and promote sustainable healthcare practices. The role also contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes within the APRU Program.
Key Responsibilities Administrative and Program Development
Facilitate effective communication between prehospital staff, medical directors, administrative teams, physicians, and receiving facilities.
Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the Fire & Rescue Nurse Practitioner role.
Assist in creating and maintaining program policies, procedures, and CQI initiatives.
Participate in data collection, analysis, and performance evaluation of the APRU Program.
Clinical Assessments
Conduct comprehensive health and medical history intakes.
Perform age-appropriate physical examinations and evaluate health status.
Complete medication reconciliation in collaboration with patients and families.
Order and interpret preventive and diagnostic procedures as appropriate.
Assess environmental and social factors influencing patient well-being.
Identify patients who could benefit from home-based clinical care.
Diagnosis and Clinical Decision-Making
Apply advanced clinical reasoning to develop differential diagnoses.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests to guide patient management.
Communicate significant findings with interdisciplinary team members.
Use integrated data to support evidence-based decision-making and high-quality care.
Qualifications Education, Licenses, and Certifications
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or equivalent).
Active Nurse Practitioner license with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Valid California Registered Nurse license and Furnishing number.
Active electronic prescribing (eRx) account with a California-approved system.
Valid California Driver s License (by start date).
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in emergency, urgent care, or other field-based medical environments (e.g., emergency department or urgent care settings).
