Position Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator is the backbone of the Bone and Mineral Disease patient population, managing a dynamic outpatient workflow that focuses on care coordination. Responsibilities center on efficient clinical triage and symptom management, evaluating patient needs over the phone and directing care appropriately.
Coordinators manage InBasket, maintain seamless patient communication via MyChart messages and telephone encounters, and oversee critical administrative-clinical tasks including prior authorizations, medication refills, and treatment coordination.
Schedule and Location- Hours:
Monday‑Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (No call, weekends or holidays). - Primary location:
Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital (Outpatient). - Hybrid flexibility:
Once trained, coordinators may work from home part‑time. - Travel:
Occasional travel to South County, Sunset Hills, or Center for Advanced Medicine clinics.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Conduct health history and physical examinations and convey findings to physicians.
- Coordinate patient care: order diagnostic tests, attend inpatient rounds, schedule appointments, and facilitate referrals.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and related processes.
- Perform nursing administrative duties, ensuring compliance with environmental safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
- Act as liaison and team leader, facilitating communication among patients, families, and health team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Normal office environment with exposure to blood‑borne pathogens; protective devices required.
- Typical physical effort: mostly sitting at desk, repetitive hand movements, occasional lifting ≤25 lbs.
- Equipment: office and clinical/diagnostic equipment.
Required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current RN licensure in Missouri and/or Illinois.
- Basic Life Support certification (online BLS without a skills assessment is insufficient).
- 2 years of nursing experience.
Preferred
- Clinical experience in research coordination or management, and familiarity with EHR systems (Epic).
- Skills in data management, statistical analysis, and team collaboration.
- Grade: S26
- Salary: $60,800.00 – $ annually.
