Registered Nurse; RN Outpatient Surgery Circulator

Overview

Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring a full‑time RN for day shift in our Outpatient Surgery Center in Charlottesville, VA. This is a 36‑hour per week schedule within operating hours. Ideal candidates will have previous perioperative experience in circulating.

Charlottesville, VA – First (Days) shift, Monday to Friday 7 am‑3 pm. No night or weekend shifts, occasional variations.

The Outpatient Surgery Center at Pantops offers high‑quality care within a collaborative environment with registered nurses, surgical techs, sterile services, and support staff overseen by a highly trained and experienced management team. The center features dedicated admit recovery and post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU) services. With four operating rooms, the facility provides a range of surgical services, including orthopedic procedures, breast, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, evaluation, ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)

• Registered Nursing License (required)
• ACLS within 1 year of hire
• PALS within 1 year of hire
• BLS within 90 days of hire

• Scrub and/or circulator experience in an OR
• Completed a Peri Op 101 program (preferred)
• 1 year of experience in acute nursing care (required)
• Previous operating room experience
• Ability to manage complex cases in fast‑paced environments
• Strong communication with patients and providers
