Position: Float Pool Intermediate Care Nurse - Nights, 7p-7a

Overview

The Inpatient Float Pool provides a unique opportunity to work with a variety of pediatric patients in a variety of units. We fill in staffing gaps wherever they occur, finding out where we are assigned to work a few hours before the start of each shift.

Intermediate Care Registered Nurses provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients who require high acuity care. Intermediate Care Unit Registered Nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, family-centered and age appropriate nursing care for patients requiring high acuity management. Intermediate Care nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs.

Intermediate Care Nurses coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.
  • Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care.
  • Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
  • One of the following:
    Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • One of the following:
    Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provide Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
