Position Summary

The Clinical Trial RN is an experienced nurse who will provide professional nursing care services in accordance with the specified clinical trial. The role focuses on performing the following duties: assessments, plans, implements, and evaluates the care needs of a designated group of patients or provides nursing care and clinical support tasks within the scope of practice for the clinical trial.

  • Minimum commitment of four (4) shifts per week
  • Shifts Available EST: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5:00 pm to 1 am, 1 am to 9 am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Knowledge and experience of healthcare technology. Responsible for data entry in the EHR and other products.
  • Provides care to acute and complex patient populations within the boundaries of the clinical trial(s).
  • Collects patient data according to protocol specifications.
  • Provide patient care in accordance with the study protocol as well as supporting protocol implementation, data collection and human subject protection.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders.
  • Reports issues/variances promptly to the research team and per accordance with escalation protocol(s).
  • Assess patients in accordance with the study protocol.
  • Document clinical assessments and elevate to the study sites in accordance with the study protocol.
  • Oversees and collaborates with leaders evaluating quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of direct patient care required. Experience in clinical trials preferred.
  • Licensure: Must have a current valid RN license in Puerto Rico, additional state licensure preferred.
  • Certifications: Additional specialty certifications welcomed, but not required.
  • Communication: Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal, oral, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Language: Able to communicate effectively, in Spanish and English, over the phone, video conferencing, and in writing. To be successful in a virtual environment, must be proficient in asynchronous communication.
  • Professionalism: Provides courteous, empathetic, and clear communication to patients even in stressful scenarios.
  • Patient‑Centered: Demonstrates patient‑centered/patient‑valued behaviors. Focuses on patient needs, patient rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences.
  • Self‑Motivated: Must be able to work effectively in a remote environment and be reliably available during determined shifts.
  • Adaptable: Able to learn new systems and workflows quickly and speedily adapt to nursing in the virtual setting.
  • Mission and team‑driven: Excited about working with a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative team by using innovative technology. Must be flexible, detailed, and committed to doing an outstanding job.

This position requires proficiency with electronic health records system (Athena), Google office products (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides, etc.) and ability to independently navigate technology. You will need a quiet, private room in your home for taking HIPAA sensitive video calls. You’ll need a fast (at least 50 Mbps required) and stable internet connection.
