Job Title: Remote Same Day Surgery Coder

Duration/Job Type: Ongoing, Long term position.

Schedule/Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 1st shift

Case Mix/Info:

• Analyze oncologic complex procedure reports and medical records to abstract critical clinical data by assigning ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and CPT codes from patient records.
• Strong knowledge in oncology/neoplasm coding guidelines with the ability to abstract medical record documentation to identify pertinent diagnoses/procedures assignment for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal regulations.
• Proficiency in abstracting specificity of diagnoses and procedures for optimized case mix index and reimbursement.
• Queries physicians when code assignments are not straightforward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes.
• Case mix includes- breast cancer surgeries (biopsies, lumpectomy, partial & total mastectomy), colorectal, pancreatic (including Whipple procedures), gynecologic, prostate, lung, thyroid, skin cancer, Mohs, electrosurgery, esophageal, kidney, lymphs, etc.

This is a FT opportunity.

• The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of coding experience in an acute care setting (trauma/teaching experience preferred).
• Active coding credentials through AHIMA or AAPC.

Pay Rate: Starting at $/hr
