Job Title:Registered Nurse (RN) – Group Home Job Summary:
The RN in a group home setting provides medical oversight and direct nursing care to residents, often individuals with developmental disabilities, chronic illnesses, or behavioral health needs. The role ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and promotes the physical and emotional well‑being of residents through skilled nursing and coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:Medical Oversight & Direct Care
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor residents’ health status and respond to changes in condition.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Perform assessments and contribute to individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers.
- Communicate with families and guardians regarding residents’ health.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings and care conferences.
- Train and supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in medication administration and health protocols.
- Provide in‑service training on medical conditions and procedures.
- Ensure staff compliance with healthcare policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Participate in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Maintain knowledge of current nursing standards and practices.
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid or CPR.
- Coordinate emergency care and communicate with emergency services.
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of nursing experience, preferably in long‑term care, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health.
- CPR certification; additional certifications (e.g., Nurse Trainer) may be required.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Residential group home setting.
- May include evenings, weekends, and on‑call responsibilities.
- Exposure to individuals with challenging behaviors or medical complexities.
