Unit Description- Sentara Princess Anne Hospital provides exceptional emergency care to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week with expert staff, cutting-edge technology and specialty services, including:
- Board-certified emergency physicians
- Emergency nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support, trauma and pediatric certifications
- Pediatric-trained team to treat children of all ages
- Overnight observation rooms for children and a separate family-friendly waiting area
- Seamless connection to easily accessible radiology department
- Landing pad for Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance to ensure quicker treatment in emergency situations
The Registered Nurse will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, designing and implementing personalized care plans, administering medications and treatments, and evaluating patient responses to interventions. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity throughout the treatment process. You will educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care, empowering them to make informed decisions.
You will monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient conditions, and respond promptly with appropriate interventions. Utilize clinical judgment to address complex health situations, consult with medical team members as needed, and document all care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The RN is expected to uphold the highest standards of patient safety, adhere to evidence-based protocols, and contribute to a supportive and empathetic environment.
As a patient advocate, you will work to ensure each patient’s comfort, dignity, and well-being while fostering trust and a sense of security. This role requires a commitment to continuous learning, adaptability to evolving healthcare practices, and dedication to the mission and values of the organization. Responsible for performing competent nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process and possessing clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards in the clinical area(s).
Exhibits knowledge of routine nursing procedures and RN/LPN scope of practice.
- ADN required, BSN or higher preferred.
- Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing.
- BLS within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire.
- 2 years nursing experience in a hospital setting
- RN experience in the ED highly preferred
