The Sentara Independence Emergency Department offers full‑service, 24‑hour care for all types of medical emergencies. Key features include:

• 24/7 access to board‑certified emergency physicians and experienced nurses.
• Private patient care rooms with state‑of‑the‑art cardiac monitoring.
• Minor care treatment area for quick evaluation and release.
• On‑site imaging services (X‑ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI) for rapid diagnosis.
• Designation as Acute Stroke Ready for rapid stabilization and possible transfer.
• Coordination with the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance for critically ill transfers.
• Family‑friendly waiting area designed for comfort and privacy.

The Registered Nursing (RN) provides competent nursing care guided by the nursing process and professional standards. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, care coordination, teaching, health promotion, ethical practice, culturally congruent care, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, resource utilization, and environmental health.

• ADN required; BSN or higher preferred.

• Virginia or compact multistate RN license in good standing.
• Emergency Care: ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire.
• All Direct Care RNs must have BLS within 90 days of hire.

• RN experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• ED experience preferred.
