Overview
Registered Nurse – Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (Part Time) – Day shift – Williamsburg, VA.
Hours:
6:45 AM to 7:15 PM with rotating weekend schedule.
The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit, 3 South, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post‑coronary interventions, post‑ablation, myocardial infarctions. 3 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, and acute stroke. This 24‑bed unit has a patient‑to‑RN ratio of 1:6 with assistance of Patient Care Techs (1:8 on average).
The unit sees a higher acuity than a typical medical‑surgical unit and is preparing for a transition to a Cardiac PCU step‑down with a 1:4 ratio by year’s end. The RN is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care‑teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
- Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
- BSN or MSN preferred.
- BLS within 90 days of hire.
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
- NIH within 1 year of hire.
- Acute care nursing experience preferred.
- Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred.
