OverviewUtilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care for low-acuity assigned patients. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.
Seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chickenpox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. Medical or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.
Responsibilities- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate plan of care for the low-acuity patient and family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Meets the educational and informational needs of the low-acuity patient and family, utilizing appropriate teaching/learning principles.
- Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care to low-acuity patients.
- Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications and competency, and patient care requirements.
- Associate’s Degree ADN Required; current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and may continue in the direct care nursing role. No experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred for nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of hire date. No experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
- Licensed RN – Missouri (MO) or Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire.
- Licensed RN – Kansas (KS) or Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire.
- Life Support Certifications Required upon hire.
- Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred.
