Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Freestanding Emergency Department. This is a part-time Night shift (12‑hour shift) position in Charlottesville, VA.

Up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates.

The Free‑Standing Emergency Room is a 13‑bed facility seeing about 60 patients a day with a physician and PA on staff as well as additional support including ED Techs. This well supported department is centered around teamwork and a patient‑first mindset. In an emergency, quick access to skilled care makes all the difference. Sentara offers access to emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our management team has been long‑standing and diligent about building a cohesive and dedicated care team to serve the Charlottesville, VA area.

Required Call:
Full‑time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks. Part‑time nurses have 12 hours of required call per 6 weeks.

Experienced Nurse Orientation:
Experienced critical care nurses can expect an orientation period of 10 weeks on the unit.

Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. Standards of practice and professional performance include assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.

• Conduct assessment and diagnosis, develop outcomes, plan and implement nursing interventions, and evaluate results.
• Coordinate and communicate with patients, families, and providers.
• Provide patient education and promotion of health, safety and cultural congruency.
• Lead and collaborate in evidence‑based nursing practice and quality improvement.

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN (preferred)

• Registered Nursing License (required)
• ACLS prior to completion of orientation
• PALS prior to completion of orientation
• BLS within 90 days of hire

• 2 years of Emergency Room experience (preferred)
• Critical care experience in hospital (required)
• Ability to manage complex cases in fast‑paced environments
• Effective communication with patients and providers
