Summary

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Work Schedule

This is a hybrid position – mostly work from home after orientation/training completed.

  • On‑site location during training – Panther Creek in Cary or MFM Raleigh
  • Schedule – 36 hours, flexible schedule of either 5–7 hour days or 4–9 hour days. Required to work Mondays and Fridays if on a 4‑day week schedule – other days flexible.
Responsibilities
  • Review OBGYN lab results: participate in reviewing obstetric and gynecological lab results in EPIC and using established protocols to notify patients of results and follow‑up plans. Coordinate with providers as needed.
  • Education:

    identify and meet learning needs of self and patients, attend education programs, use appropriate patient education materials, assess readiness to learn.
  • Evaluation of Care: identify expected patient outcomes, seek guidance for plan of care revisions, discuss care with interdisciplinary team, communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Implementation: demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, perform bedside point‑of‑care testing, utilize organizational policies, prioritize care and consult resources in a timely manner.
  • Patient Assessment: recognize data from complex situations, synthesize assessment data into meaningful whole, assess and anticipate discharge needs, develop relationships with families.
  • Planning: collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update plan of care, use multidisciplinary resources, address cultural and ethnic issues, prioritize tasks for complex problems.
  • Research: read relevant journals, bring ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
  • Preferences
    • Strong obstetric and gynecological clinical knowledge
    • Comfortable working in EPIC
    • 3 years outpatient/ambulatory experience
    • 1–2 years of nurse triage experience
    Education Requirements

    Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

    Licensure/Certification Requirements

    Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.

    Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

    Professional Experience Requirements

    One (1) year of nursing experience.

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Requirements

    Relevant knowledge and skills for OBGYN clinical nursing care, use of EPIC, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and critical care monitoring.
