About the HospitalSentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, Virginia, is a 175-bed, full-service community hospital known for its compassionate, high-quality care and strong sense of teamwork.
About the UnitEmergency Department (ED) with 37 beds, including a 5-bed Behavioral Health Safe Suite. We treat approximately 53,000 visits annually (about 150 per day). The team includes emergency nurses, physicians, and technicians, working in a fast-paced environment with advanced technology and rapid response protocols.
ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care, following the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination). The RN meets standards of professional performance: ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN provides care across the spectrum—from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies—while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Education- RN-Associate’s Degree
- RN-Bachelor’s Degree
- RN-Diploma
- RN-Master’s Degree
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
- ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one year of hire
- No new graduate RNs considered.
- Minimum 6 months RN experience in an acute care setting such as ER, ICU, Intermediate Care Unit, or Recovery Room. Acute care experience in other units may be considered.
