Description: Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Operating Room (CTOR) Team. This is a full-time, day-shift position with required call. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. Hours and call:
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM with required call. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes. Weekday call is 14:30–06:00 the following morning (2–3 per week). Weekend call is 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday twice a month.
Department Overview: The CTOR team consists of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. You will collaborate with Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The CTOR surgical team works with the Beacon award-winning CCU staff for post-operative care. Training and precepting for those new to the Cardiac Operating Room is provided one-on-one by well-trained staff offering best-in-class education. United towards the goal of CTOR team success.
Cardiac procedures we perform include:
- Aortic Root Replacement
- Pericardiectomy
- Thoracotomy
- Transmyocardial Revascularization
- Tricuspid Valve Repair/Replacement
- Ventricular Assist Device Placement
- Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery
Cardiac repairs for:
- Aortic Aneurysm/Dissection (Ascending & Descending)
- Atrial Myxoma
- Atrial Septal Defect
- Patent Foramen Ovale
- Ventricular Septal Defect
- Ventricular Aneurysm
Cardiothoracic Operating Room Scrub Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure for the cardiothoracic patient. Responsibilities include managing surgical instruments, maintaining sterility and a sterile field, assisting the surgeon by providing necessary tools, performing surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left behind, and coordinating with the broader surgical team. Manages complex open-heart and thoracic surgeries including bypass surgery, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, heart transplant, TAVR, and open plus minimally invasive thoracic cases.
Delivers safe, effective, and patient-family-centered care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room.
- Associates Degree
- Nursing Required - BSN or MSN Preferred
- Registered Nurse Licensure
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- CNOR
- Certified Nurse Operating Room Preferred
- 1 year of Operating Room experience (general OR accepted)
- Previous Cardiac Operating Room experience preferred
- Perioperative training
- Scrub and/or Circulator experience preferred
