Job Highlights:

Schedule: day shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or 8:30 am – 5:00 pm based on department needs

Location: 1821 S. Stoughton Rd., Madison, WI 53716

Previous experience working with patients with diabetes is a plus.

This role may have the option to work from home 1 day per week following orientation and once metrics are maintained.

Job Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans; monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • May round with physician in an inpatient setting.
  • Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring care is delivered based on patient’s age‑specific and clinical needs as described in the department’s Scope of Service.
  • Demonstrates professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model; uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide response to evolving patient needs.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
Experience
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near and far distances and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and alarms.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Illinois: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association;
    Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Missouri: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association;
    Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration (or RN issued by Compact State).
  • Oklahoma: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association;
    Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State (or RN – Oklahoma Board of Nursing).
  • Wisconsin: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association;
    Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State (or RN – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services).
