Job Overview
Staff Nurse – Cardiovascular Rehabilitation. Part time, other shift in the United States. Non‑exempt. This role utilizes excellent communication and customer relations skills in assessing, counseling, and educating patients on lifestyle modifications related to cardiovascular risk factor reduction and improved quality of life. The nurse is responsible for assessing patients’ physical and psychological responses to exercise and illness, formulating care plans for recovery from cardiovascular incidents, and providing supervised exercise training for peripheral artery disease.
Education& Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Preferred: 6 months prior work experience in Cardiology
- Awareness and application of safety issues within the institution.
- Awareness of legal issues in patient care and departmental functioning.
- Ability to manage situations minimizing risk to patient and institution.
- Effective communication using verbal, non‑verbal, and written methods.
- Understanding of pathophysiology, treatment, and recovery for outpatient cardiac patients (CABG, PTCA, MI, valve repair, stable angina, heart failure, intermittent claudication).
- Identification of patient learning needs and implementation of coaching for behavioral change.
- Registered Nurse – KSBN or a multistate license to practice in Kansas.
- Basic Life Support – BLS; RQI, CPR, or ACLS certifications required within 90 days of hire.
- Collect pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting.
- Analyze assessment data to determine actual or potential problems and issues.
- Develop a collaborative care plan with strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
- Identify expected outcomes for an individualized plan.
- Promote infection prevention through standard precautions, dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene, and cleanliness of patient rooms/department.
- Implement the care plan through coordination of care and strategies that promote health and wellness.
- Evaluate progress toward goals and outcomes.
- Deliver professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring.
- Promote a mutually respectful environment encouraging exchange of ideas and supporting professional relationships.
- Advocate in all roles and settings.
- Practice Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles daily.
- Communicate effectively across all areas of professional practice.
- Mentor new nurses to ensure successful enculturation, orientation, competence, and emotional support.
- Support students to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Commit to lifelong learning through critical thinking, self‑reflection, and inquiry.
- Participate in nursing practice evolution within the Stormont Vail Health practice model.
- Utilize appropriate resources for evidence‑based, safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services.
