Overview
Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for 2 South - Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit. This is a Full Time, Day Shift position in Suffolk, VA. Sign on Bonus up to $15,000 available for qualified candidates.
Hours:
7 AM to 7 PM with rotating weekend schedule. The 2 South Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post-coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions, pre/post catheterization, acute stroke, and post-procedural neuro cases. This 25-bed unit has a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with Patient Care Tech support and is preparing for a transition to a Cardiac PCU step-down, offering growth opportunities in a high-acuity setting.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care demonstrated through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care and health promotion, and evaluation. The nurse adheres to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN applies clinical knowledge to meet standards required by the clinical area.
Education- Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Students in process of completing an accredited nursing program
- Active plan for obtaining Registered Nursing License
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
- NIH within 1 year of hire
- Acute care nursing experience preferred
- Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
- None required
