Overview

The Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Clinical Operations supports the Assistant Director/Director in overseeing the daily administrative and clinical operations of ambulatory care services. Focuses on ensuring efficient and high-quality patient care across assigned clinics, locations, and service lines. Responsibilities include assisting with operational assessments and improvements, developing departmental clinical guidelines, collaborating with clinic staff to achieve quality outcomes, and managing the hiring and evaluation of team members.

Also supports quality improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, helps manage budgets and expenses, addresses patient and staff concerns to enhance satisfaction, and assists in the development and implementation of policies. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight and support for patient care/clinical support activities at all assigned clinic locations.
  • Assume responsibility for the quality of nursing care within the department.
  • Manage the delivery of nursing care and practice of professional nursing in an ambulatory setting.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in writing departmental nursing guidelines.
  • Ensure clinical teams work at the top of licensure/responsibility.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of operational budget recommendations for assigned practices, departments, or specialties in collaboration with the senior leadership team. Submit budget recommendations for FTE and operational expense alignment based on historical trends and fiscal year goals.
  • Ensure competence of assigned team members and compliance with regulatory organizational policy and performance requirements.
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments/service lines within the organization to stay informed of new initiatives, products, and services; identify opportunities to support organizational initiatives, quality, efficiency, effectiveness and world-class service excellence.
  • Participate in and support implementation of key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis; forecast requirements, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
  • Implement ongoing quality and operational process improvements with quantifiable clinical and/or operational outcomes, safety management and operational efficiency.
  • Create, update and maintain operational metrics and analytics reporting, including communication of such metrics and analytics.
  • Confer with the Assistant Director/Director to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals/objectives based on current status and conditions.
  • Be responsible for patient experience strategy deployment, initiatives, and escalations through operational metrics and identified priorities while ensuring patient flow and proper utilization of all clinic space.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Serve as a liaison between Directors, Physicians, and Staff regarding clinical and operational challenges.
  • Respond to daily operational challenges by understanding issues through rounding, huddles and team member concerns to ensure resolution and support for the team.
  • Support strategy and operational execution of initiatives to expand services, create efficient clinic operations, and support services through service line initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Florida Registered Nurse License
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in a healthcare setting with at least two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Experience with burn and wound care
