Department:
Office of Adult, Aging and Disability Services – CO State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle.
Position:
Care Aide (Nurse Aide) – full‑time or part‑time, training position for basic patient/resident care.
- Perform basic assessments including vital signs, blood pressure, weight, intake and output, and basic skin assessments.
- Provide infection control through universal precautions and proper waste disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness of linen room and equipment, restock supplies, and complete supply forms.
- Use safety/positioning devices, side rails, transfer belts, and equipment correctly.
- Attend ongoing staff education programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current, valid CNA license or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire.
- Must be a Colorado resident at application and throughout employment.
- Knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned resident care based on conditions; use judgment and recognize and report resident information.
- Ability to recognize urgent or emergent resident care situations and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
- Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and protocols.
- Knowledge of specialized client care applicable to the work situation.
- Skill in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to residents.
- Effective work with elderly patient population of varying abilities and staff from multiple units.
- Ability to observe, identify, and respond to resident care needs including medication, equipment, and family education.
- Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Professional conduct at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Long‑term care/nursing home experience highly desirable.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Full background check, TB test, driver’s license (if required), and other employment‑specific requirements.
