Job Overview
Position:
Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Colorado State Veterans Community Living Center in Rifle. Full‑time and part‑time opportunities are available. Current Colorado residents only.
Location:
CO State Veterans Community Living Center at Rifle, located on the western slope of Colorado. The center provides skilled nursing care for veterans, spouses, and qualifying “Gold Star” parents.
- Perform basic nursing care: bathing, feeding, dressing, transferring, ambulating, positioning, lifting, range of motion, toileting, skin care, and social interaction to meet residents’ basic needs.
- Assist nursing staff with resident safety, mobility programs, assistive devices, and perform CPR as needed.
- Conduct basic resident assessments: vital signs, weight, bowel/bladder use, intake and output, and record findings.
- Maintain infection control practices and perform equipment checks and maintenance.
- Communicate with RN/LPN regarding resident condition changes and participate in GAPA and restorative meetings.
- Transport residents for medical appointments using state vehicles when required and attend educational training and staff meetings.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of professional CNA experience or similar duties.
- Valid CNA certification from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, or a valid LPN license from Colorado or a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Willingness to submit to a background check, TB test, and to carry a valid driver’s license.
- Availability for shift work (day, evening, night, holidays, weekends) and on‑call rotation as defined by facility protocol.
- Full background checks: CBI name check, fingerprint check, court database, Medicare fraud database, reference checks, professional license verification, drug screen, and CAPS compliance.
- Must be a Colorado resident throughout employment.
- Valid non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license or a U.S. driver’s license within 30 miles of the state border. Out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of start date.
- Must complete TB testing and comply with infection prevention protocols.
- On‑call rotation and shift work as defined by facility protocol.
