Oncology Nurse
Position Overview
This Advanced Practice Professional (APP) position will hire two (2) full‑time equivalent (FTE) providers, either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a Physician Assistant (PA), to work in the Oncology Treatment and Evaluation Center (OTEC) and associated Adult Inpatient Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BMT/CT) programs.

Responsibilities- Provide outpatient visits, pre‑chemotherapy and infusion visits, initial stem cell transplant and CAR‑T infusion monitoring, same‑day post‑infusion follow‑up, evaluation of complications and facilitate admissions related to toxicities in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Perform history and physical examinations, order and interpret clinical investigations, manage admissions, discharges, consults, and educate patients, families and providers.
- Recognize and treat sepsis, chemotherapy toxicities, graft‑versus‑host disease, cytokine release syndrome, immune‑effector‑cell–associated enterocolitis, neurotoxicity syndrome, cardiac myopathies and profound cytopenias.
- Perform procedures such as bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, second‑assist bone marrow harvest, lumbar puncture and skin biopsy for diagnostic and therapeutic indications.
- Review laboratory and radiographic results and discuss findings with patients and faculty.
- Participate in clinical trial research, assessing patients for trial participation and consenting when appropriate.
- Facilitate transitions of care and act as liaison between inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Attend programmatic meetings, workshops and CME activities related to BMT and regional or national conferences as required.
- Current specialty certification as an Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- At least four years experience as an inpatient BMT APP in a similar clinical environment within the past six years.
- Registered Nurse licence in Michigan.
- Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program and certification recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration and AHA‑approved BLS and ACLS.
- Two‑year experience managing acutely ill patients with telemetry, EKG interpretation and ACLS.
- Prior BMT APP experience;
Heme‑Onc or Hospitalist experience will be considered.
- Current licence to practice as a Physician Assistant in Michigan.
- Graduated from an ARC‑PA accredited physician assistant program.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Michigan controlled‑substance licence and current DEA registration.
- Two‑year experience managing acutely ill patients with telemetry, EKG interpretation and ACLS.
- Prior BMT APP experience;
Heme‑Onc or Hospitalist experience will be considered.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of credentialing and privileging processes.

Full‑time salary range: $130,630 – $200,734 per year.

Schedule:
Night shift with weekend coverage, 40 hours per week.
Children’s and Women’s Hospital (C&W), C&W Infusion, University Hospital (UH) with additional sites as the Cellular and Gene Therapy Program expands.
