LEO Lecturer I - N481 Leadership for Professional Practice Improvement

N481 - Leadership for Professional Practice Improvement (Clinical) PNE

The clinical course focuses on the application of the leadership and management concepts for the inpatient, acute care, and community settings. The clinical portion of the course provides for the development of the student's skills and practical application of concepts such as team, quality, delegation, innovation, negotiation, problem solving, safety, and quality within the organizations. The course also offers an applied view of the organization's management structure and processes that enable the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care.

The use of data, quality improvement, and service delivery models are examined with consideration of the scientific, technological, financial, political, and cultural context of the clinical setting. Compliance and ethics related to leadership for professional practice will also be explored. Students will have the opportunity to work with interprofessional teams.

The School of Nursing (UMSN), Undergraduate Program is recruiting nursing professional(s) with experience in nursing leadership to teach of N481 Leadership for Professional Practice Improvement (Clinical) (2 credits, 16.67% effort). Monday seminar time is 12:30-2:30p. This is a precepted clinical course with clinical times for students TBD.

NOTE:
This appointment is for Fall term, 2026 only

Responsibilities*

The Lecturer appointed to this position is expected to attend all simulations and clinical conferences, perform clinical site visits, and provide feedback to students. The Lecturer is responsible for grading all assignments and simulations and bears primary responsibility for computing final grades in a timely fashion.

This position includes classroom and/or clinical teaching that may take place in a hospital or clinic setting and may include other on-site work hours, even if the University and/or the School of Nursing is taking part in remote work/alternative teaching.

Required Qualifications *
  • * A master of nursing degree is required.
  • * Preference will be given to applicants who have both didactic and clinical teaching experience and content expertise in microbiology.
  • * A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
  • * Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).
