Employee Health Nurse
Townsen Memorial is looking for a full-time Employee Health Nurse to join our team. This is a remote position with occasional travel required. The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for coordinating and administering occupational health services that promote employee safety, health, and regulatory compliance. This position manages pre-employment and ongoing health requirements, immunization and tuberculosis compliance, occupational exposure follow-up, employee health documentation, and related surveillance activities.
The Employee Health Nurse collaborates with employees, providers, Infection Prevention, Human Resources, and organizational leadership to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates pre-employment health screenings, medical clearances, and other required occupational health evaluations.
- Monitors employee compliance with tuberculosis screening, immunizations, health assessments, and other organizational requirements.
- Reviews, documents, and maintains employee health and vaccination records in accordance with confidentiality and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates evaluation and follow-up for blood borne pathogen exposures, needle stick injuries, communicable disease exposures, and other occupational health incidents.
- Provides employees with education and instructions regarding exposure protocols, testing, treatment, and required follow-up.
- Implements and monitors employee health policies, procedures, and infection-prevention guidelines designed to reduce occupational health risks.
- Conducts or coordinates employee health surveillance and screening programs, as applicable.
- Identifies employees who are not compliant with health requirements and communicates necessary follow-up while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Collaborates with Infection Prevention, Human Resources, Safety, providers, and department leaders regarding employee health concerns and work-related exposures.
- Serves as a resource for employees and leaders regarding occupational health requirements, communicable diseases, immunizations, and workplace safety.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential employee health records separately from personnel records.
- Tracks employee health metrics and prepares reports to support compliance, quality improvement, and organizational decision-making.
- Supports compliance with applicable OSHA, CDC, state, accreditation, and organizational employee health requirements.
- Participates in the review and development of employee health policies, protocols, and workflows.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of occupational health practices, infection prevention, immunizations, and communicable disease management.
- Knowledge of blood borne pathogen exposure protocols and applicable workplace safety requirements.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements related to employee health information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Effective critical-thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to track multiple deadlines and follow-up requirements accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, providers, leadership, and regulatory personnel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Education and Experience:
- Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support certified
- One (1) year of experience with employee health, occupational health, infection prevention, or case-management is preferred

Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
