RN Staff Nurse - General Medicine & Geriatrics; Hybrid

Position Summary

WashU is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Staff Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics, primarily supporting Geriatric Primary Care and the Geriatric Assessment Clinic. This hybrid role includes both in-clinic and remote work and focuses on triage nursing, requiring the ability to manage a high call volume, coordinate care efficiently, and multitask in a fast-paced environment while ensuring exceptional patient care.

In this role, you will work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes through patient education, symptom management, and care coordination. This position will also participate in the assessment and management of geriatric syndromes, including cognitive decline, falls, and polypharmacy concerns.

• Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
• Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
• Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
• Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
• Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
