Phoenix Ortho Injury Spine & Extremity is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) to join our team in a PRN, primarily virtual capacity.
This position is designed to provide additional clinical coverage based on patient volume and operational needs. The PRN provider will be available on an as-needed basis between the hours of 7:00 AM-7:00 PM to assist with drop-in patients, same-day patient needs, telemedicine visits, and other clinical coverage as requested.
This is not a regularly scheduled 7:00 AM-7:00 PM shift. Hours will vary based on patient volume and practice needs, and PRN hours are not guaranteed.
The ideal candidate will have experience in orthopedics, extremity care, sports medicine, non-operative musculoskeletal medicine, or interventional pain management and must be comfortable evaluating and managing patients through telemedicine. Experience treating personal injury patients is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Provide virtual patient care on an as-needed basis during the designated availability window.
- Evaluate drop-in, same-day, and other patients requiring additional provider coverage.
- Conduct patient assessments, including review of medical history, symptoms, diagnostic results, and relevant clinical information.
- Develop and manage appropriate treatment and follow-up plans for orthopedic and pain-management patients.
- Conduct telemedicine visits professionally and efficiently while maintaining appropriate standards of care.
- Review and interpret diagnostic studies, including X-rays and MRIs, and recommend additional testing or referrals when appropriate.
- Provide patient education regarding orthopedic conditions, injury recovery, pain management, treatment recommendations, and self-care.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, clinical staff, and other members of the care team to support continuity of care.
- Coordinate care related to personal injury patients when appropriate.
- Follow established clinical protocols, documentation standards, and organizational policies.
- Participate in required APP training or clinical meetings as applicable.
- Maintain availability and responsiveness during agreed-upon PRN coverage periods.
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Georgia required.
- Must reside in the State of Georgia.
- Experience in orthopedics and/or interventional pain management required.
- Experience treating personal injury and motor vehicle accident patients preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to independently manage appropriate patient encounters in a virtual environment.
- Experience providing telemedicine services preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
- Experience with Care Cloud EMR preferred but not required.
- Additional licenses in Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, Illinois, and/or Mississippi are a plus.
- Willingness to pursue additional state licensure as Phoenix Ortho's telemedicine services expand may be required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to respond appropriately to changing patient-care needs.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and the broader clinical team.
This is a PRN/as-needed position intended to provide flexible provider coverage based on patient volume and operational needs.
Candidates must have the ability to provide virtual coverage between 7:00 AM-7:00 PM when scheduled or requested. Actual hours may vary, and the position does not guarantee a minimum number of hours or a consistent weekly schedule.
