Neurology RN/ Neuroscience Nurse, RN Nurse, Healthcare Nursing
Bring your neurology nursing expertise to a high-volume outpatient environment where clinical judgment, patient education, procedural support, and interdisciplinary collaboration come together every day.
UVA Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Adult Neurology Outpatient, a clinic-based role supporting patients with complex neurological symptoms and diseases, including stroke, movement disorders, memory concerns, neuromuscular conditions, epilepsy, headaches, multiple sclerosis, and neuroimmunological disorders. This is an opportunity to practice hands-on ambulatory nursing in a specialty setting that offers clinical variety, meaningful patient relationships, and a more predictable schedule than many inpatient roles.
The RoleAs an Adult Neurology Outpatient RN, you will be part of a large, busy specialty clinic that sees approximately 150-200 patients per day across 29 exam rooms. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys fast-paced outpatient care
, complex patient needs, procedural variety, and being part of a team that adjusts quickly to meet the needs of the day.
This position offers schedule flexibility with either four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts
, depending on clinic needs. There are no weekends, no holidays, no nights, and no on-call requirements
. Once fully trained, there may be potential for occasional remote work.
You will support specialty neurology care through direct patient interaction, procedure assistance, nurse-driven visits, care coordination, and patient education. The team is also focused on improving procedure workflows and expanding opportunities for RN-led care, including hands-on treatments for patients with neurological and neuropathic conditions.
In an average day, you may:
Support procedures such as lumbar punctures, skin biopsies, and botox injections
Conduct nurse visits for treatments including subcutaneous infusions for multiple sclerosis and diabetic neuropathy treatment applications
Assist with Parkinson's disease pump adjustments
Provide Epic-in basket support for RN Care Coordinators, including medication refills, faxes, and forms
Liaise with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing colleagues, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
Support patient education for individuals and families navigating complex neurological diagnoses
Occasionally assist with patient intake and clinic flow
The person who thrives here is flexible, curious, team-oriented, and energized by learning. This is a strong fit for a nurse who likes to stay busy, jump in when needed, and build specialty expertise in a clinic setting without the physical intensity of inpatient nursing.
