Job SummaryTo prepare for and service funerals; perform general maintenance at all locations of Catholic Cemeteries; a multifaceted position; grounds employees are members of SIUE Local 1
Job Responsibilities- Knowledge of all sections and equipment
- Opening and closing of graves and crypts
- Tent set up and take down
- Service graveside funerals
- Placement of casket in crypt, grave or outer container and back filling grave
- Install memorial foundations, set or reset memorial work
- Disinterment work
- General maintenance and Endowed Care work, not limited to lawn mowing, weed trimming, shrub trimming and tree care
- Training provided
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Light duty work is not available
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or actively working towards obtaining CDL
- Equipment Operation:
- Tractor trailer
- Backhoe (grave digging machine)
- Hi-Lift tractor
- Truck boom crane
- Basket lift machine
- 12’, 6’, and smaller motorized lawn mowers
- Motorized push mower
- Riding, backpack, and hand-pushed leaf blowers
- Hedge, tree trimming, and string trimming equipment
- Chain saws and snow blowers
- Other power equipment
- Hand
Skills:- Shovel and broom usage
- Hoes, rakes, and felling trees
- Cleaning branches
- Painting and board laying
- Road sealing and curb maintenance
- Concrete and masonry work
- Minor mechanical repairs
