Job Summary
Title: CPW Wildlife Property Technician IV – Area 7
Location: Mesa County, CO
Salary Range: $54,960 – $72,888 annually
Job Type: Full Time
- Maintain interior and exterior buildings, grounds, and facilities at the Northwest Region Service Center and Area 7 staff buildings.
- Lead safety and ground maintenance to ensure safe conditions for staff and customers.
- Develop and implement multi‑year habitat improvement plans for State Wildlife Areas, including mechanical tree removal, hand clearing, prescribed burns, noxious weed treatment, tillage, and water development.
- Inspect and maintain signage and fencing to meet property minimum standards.
- Manage water rights owned by Colorado Parks & Wildlife, record all water use, and maintain associated infrastructure.
- Oversee procurement, repair, and maintenance of structures, utilities, and equipment (e.g., Hunter Education building, shooting range, office buildings, storage yards, water and sewer systems).
- Perform administrative duties: monitor expenses, track budget, prepare reports, coordinate grant applications, manage volunteers and temporary workers, and assist front‑desk operations.
- Recruit and support temporary workers and volunteers for cattle‑wolf disease programs and other projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Four years of relevant experience in agriculture management, natural resource management, facility or building operations, grounds management, or construction management.
- No formal college education required, but a combination of related education and experience equal to four years will substitute for the experience requirement.
- State or CPW experience in relevant work or volunteer activities.
- Experience managing detailed records and quality control of data.
- Knowledge of agricultural practices, building maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, and noxious weed spraying.
- Familiarity with wildlife habitat improvement techniques and water use reporting.
- Commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers, email, spreadsheets, and related technology.
- Ability to transition between variable tasks efficiently.
- Attention to detail and quality assurance during sample processing.
- Ability to work independently and maintain certifications.
- Ability to operate and maintain machinery and equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collect biological samples.
