This work unit exists to direct and implement a variety of outdoor recreation programs and activities, while managing and protecting the natural resources and man‑made facilities at five separate and distinct units of James M. Robb–Colorado River State Park as well as managing and protecting approximately 8 miles of multi‑use trail along the Colorado River corridor. The park provides a safe and quality recreational experience to nearly 500,000 visitors per year along with a wide range of appropriate recreational and educational opportunities.
This is balanced with the need to protect and enhance the facilities and natural resources of the area by providing visitor services, maintenance functions, natural resource protection and education, administration functions, law enforcement, inter‑agency cooperation, and program development. The work unit administers state park programs within the district, and provides recreation and natural resource management expertise to federal, state, county, local and private enterprises.

This position exists to provide a safe and pleasant environment for recreational activities by cleaning, repairing, replacing and operating equipment, systems, facilities, grounds and infrastructure for the use of park visitors and staff. Scheduling for this position is dictated by peak visitation patterns. Provides management support by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, scheduling and training all maintenance personnel. Inspects for needed maintenance of 75 campsites, group picnic area, camper services building, visitor center, swim beach, bath house and trails between Fruita and Connected Lakes.
Assist the east end park resource technician with similar job functions as the need arises. Care for non‑developed properties of the park with an emphasis placed upon areas downstream from Connected Lakes. Makes recommendations to the PM IV regarding work projects, budget, equipment and temporary personnel needs.
Conducts daily inspections of all facilities. Ensures that safety hazards are resolved expeditiously. Performs preventative maintenance on all facilities/equipment to protect state assets. Performs custodial maintenance to provide visitors with a clean, sanitary and safe facility. Maintain facilities in optimum working condition and in compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
