The work unit exists to implement the goals and objectives of Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s strategic long range and operational plan in order to accomplish the Legislative mandate of protecting, preserving, managing, and enhancing the State’s wildlife resources in the geographical area comprised of Area 18 in the Southwest Region (Montrose, San Miguel and Ouray Counties, and parts of Delta, Mesa, Gunnison counties).

This position exists to create, preserve, enhance and manage the habitat on Escalante SWA for wildlife and for the use, benefit, and enjoyment of hunters and the people of Colorado.
Property ManagementThis position is responsible for management of CPW's State Wildlife Area properties in the Escalante State Wildlife Area complex. These properties include a variety of habitat types such as river bottom, ponds and wetlands, pinyon-juniper forest, aspen/conifer forest, and food plots in irrigated agriculture. The position cooperatively develops and implements habitat improvements, five year maintenance, and legal compliance plans by assessing the SWAs’ deficiencies.
Determines project priority in accordance with planning documents. Refers to professional resources and consults professionals on specific project needs. Administers all agricultural leases on state wildlife areas. Coordinate all crews and contractors including, but not limited to: seasonal and temporary employees, volunteers, youth crews, convict labor, NGO projects, Ducks Unlimited, Colorado State Insectary projects, and weed control projects.
The Escalante Property Technician is responsible for working cooperatively with district wildlife managers and biologists to identify and implement habitat improvement projects and a wide variety of other wildlife related responsibilities.
