Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
These positions are represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of DutiesFacilitate the programming and operation of the Anchorage Parks and Recreation facilities and summer camps. This position is responsible for delivering quality programs, helping staff to connect with facility user groups, monitoring facility and programs, and permitting recreation facilities. Act as a facility lead and provide the necessary training and teachable moments to ensure outstanding customer service, quality programs and a safe facility operation.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two (2) years experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.

Associate's degree in Physical Education, Parks & Recreation, or a related discipline and experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
All applicants must possess or obtain:
- A valid State of Alaska Driver's License at time of hire.
- American Red Cross First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
- Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).
