Company Description

Leashes of Valor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to training highly skilled service dogs and pairing them with Post-9/11 veterans. The organization focuses on enriching and improving the lives of both veterans and dogs through carefully structured training and support programs. Team members contribute directly to life-changing partnerships that promote independence, emotional well-being, and community connection. Leashes of Valor values compassion, professionalism, and collaboration in all aspects of its work.

Role Description

The Part-Time Service Dog Transportation Coordinator supports the safe and timely transport of service dogs between training facilities, foster homes, veterinary appointments, and veteran partners. This hybrid role is based in Fredericksburg, VA, with a mix of on-site duties (such as coordinating and occasionally assisting with dog transport) and work-from-home tasks (such as scheduling, documentation, and communication). Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing transportation logistics, maintaining schedules and records, communicating with staff, volunteers, and partners, and ensuring that all transport complies with safety and welfare guidelines.

The coordinator may also help with basic dog handling during pick-ups and drop-offs, and collaborate with the training team to align transportation plans with program needs. This is a part-time position requiring consistent availability, reliability, and a strong commitment to the mission of serving Post-9/11 veterans.

Qualifications
  • Ability to coordinate schedules, manage logistics, and maintain accurate records using basic office and computer software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, volunteers, partners, and veterans in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Comfort with dog handling, basic understanding of dog safety and welfare, and willingness to learn program-specific procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and reliable transportation suitable for moving dogs and related equipment.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site responsibilities in Fredericksburg, VA with remote administrative tasks.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to follow protocols and maintain confidentiality where required.
  • Commitment to the mission of supporting Post-9/11 veterans; prior experience in animal care, transportation coordination, or nonprofit work is beneficial.
