Laboratory Assistant - INTERNAL

Not a remote or hybrid position. This role requires 100% onsite work in Cordova, Alaska.

• The Native Village of Eyak (NVE) is a federally recognized Tribal government based in Cordova, Alaska—a remote, roadless community nestled between the eastern Chugach Mountains and the waters of Prince William Sound.

Following all policy and procedures and under the guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor, provide clerical and technical support through reception, specimen processing and laboratory organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs laboratory testing and associated activities (e.g., specimen collection and processing, QC, maintenance, etc.)
• Accept samples for on‑site testing or for sending to contracted reference laboratories.
• Reviews lab sample integrity, ensuring labelling and paperwork are correct. Resolves discrepancies with documentation.
• Review manually entered results daily to ensure accuracy.
• Assists with maintenance procedures of laboratory equipment.
• Assists with laboratory space organization, reception, record maintenance, scheduling and general duties to facilitate lab administration.
• Assist in preparing lab for inspection from regulatory institutions.
• Actively participate in Laboratory Quality Assurance activities with emphasis on ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Perform Quality Control (QC), troubleshooting, and appropriate documentation as directed by Laboratory Supervisor.
• Provide customer service for queries directed at the laboratory from providers and patients.
• Analyze and verify data in the computer system.
• Write and run reports as required to provide operating procedures, test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.
