Position Overview

Penn State University is seeking a detail‑oriented, collaborative, and proactive Compliance Specialist to support University Health Services (UHS) at University Park. This role leads regulatory compliance efforts, advances quality improvement initiatives, supports policy and procedure development, coordinates clinician credentialing and peer review activities, and oversees annual training and onboarding processes.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor regulatory compliance, research and interpret updates from regulatory and accrediting agencies impacting UHS operations, including federal and state regulations, Pennsylvania Department of Health, CLIA, COLA, pharmacy organizations, and AAAHC.
  • Implement actions needed to maintain compliance and ensure workforce members complete required follow‑up activities.
  • Serve as the AAAHC liaison and lead for UHS, coordinating accreditation‑related activities.
  • Co‑chair QI Committee meetings and support members with project development, benchmarking, and narrative documentation.
  • Review, enter, and analyze incident reports and trends; communicate findings to the Senior Director and Administrative Committee.
  • Review, track, and route patient and customer comments to appropriate UHS managers, ensuring timely follow‑up; maintain corresponding databases.
  • Partner with University Risk Management on annual liability insurance renewal activities and promote a proactive, risk‑aware culture.
  • Perform compliance audits as needed and run quarterly patient/customer satisfaction reports, analyzing data and communicating trends and significant findings to leadership.
  • Partner with the Senior Director to review, revise, develop, and recommend policies and procedures; provide updates on regulatory and accreditation changes and identify discrepancies with external standards.
  • Lead clinician reappointment, peer review, and credentialing processes, ensuring files are complete, current, and compliant with applicable requirements.
  • Oversee initial onboarding, annual training, and offboarding processes for all workforce members; verify training completion and resolve gaps.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $65,508.00 – $94,980.00. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, robust retirement plans, substantial paid time off (holidays, vacation, and sick time), and a 75% tuition discount for employees and eligible spouses and children.
