Engineer II, Drug Product Development

Role

Support drug product development for Moderna’s sterile biologics, focusing on process development, scale-up, and formulation optimization for clinical and future commercial supply.

• Conduct studies on manufacturing scale-up processes (freeze/thaw, mixing, lyophilization, transport)
• Evaluate material compatibility
• Collaborate on toxicology and stability fills
• Plan and execute experiments (including DoE)
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues
• Perform characterization techniques (opacity testing, microscopy, particle sizing)
• Ensure long-term stability of vialed products, with documentation in ELN

• Master’s or Bachelor’s in Chemical, Biochemical, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields
• 0-2 years post-Master’s or 2+ years post-Bachelor’s experience
• Strong lab skills
• Knowledge of DoE and nucleic acid chemistry advantageous

• Bio Pharma experience
• Nanoparticle formulation
• GMP familiarity
• Willingness to travel up to 20%
