FSQ Associate Quality Manager – COP (Hybrid: Onsite and Remote Work)

Position is responsible for managing food safety and quality risks of designated product categories, partnering with cross‑functional teams, defining product specifications, evaluating manufacturers and exclusive branded products, and working proactively with suppliers to build process controls that reduce food safety and quality risk.
Hybrid Work ModelThis role combines three onsite days per week with remote work.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance of all assigned suppliers to US Foods requirements regarding food safety, quality and regulatory compliance; approve, suspend, restrict or disqualify as needed.
- Collaborate with vendors to maintain product specifications for branded products and hold suppliers accountable to US Foods requirements.
- Conduct vendor facility risk assessments through documentation review and on‑site inspections for site approvals.
- Apply strong knowledge of regulatory performance standards, critical to quality attributes, processing techniques, environmental monitoring and general microbiology for assigned product categories.
- Act as an active member of the merchandising cross‑functional category team, enabling commercial success while maintaining food safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Provide or identify resources to educate cross‑functional partners on food safety and quality policies and regulations (e.g., FSIS, Low Acid Canned Food Processing, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, The Produce Rule).
- Partner with Product Development to design new products, define specifications and manage the internal and supplier approval process.
- Participate in plant trials and/or first productions for new products; ensure products meet brand standards in food safety and quality.
- Manage supplier, customer and internal feedback to move US Foods into a proactive/predictive state in managing product quality and continuous improvement.
- Analyze complaint and product evaluation data to identify trends and opportunities; compile and issue quarterly FSQ scorecard to assigned vendors.
- B.S. in an applicable field of science (e.g., food science, dairy science, meat science, animal science, plant science, engineering, microbiology) or a commensurate degree.
- PCQI/HACCP certification.
- Auditor certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years food safety/quality experience.
- Working knowledge of FDA (FSMA) & USDA regulatory requirements and food safety systems.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Understanding of environmental monitoring programs and application of FSMA/Preventive Controls, Food Safety Plan design, measurement, documentation and training.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact across organizational levels.
Up to 20–30% travel; some travel may be out of the country.

CompensationExpected base rate is $75,000 – $120,000, based on relevant experience and education. The role also includes an annual incentive plan bonus.
