Food Safety & Regulatory Auditor
Location: Remote (Home-based) with travel to Mennel Production Facilities
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (varies based on workload)
Travel: Up to 50%+

Who You AreThe ideal Food Safety & Regulatory Auditor is a highly experienced, self‑motivated professional with deep expertise in food safety standards and regulatory compliance. You are confident leading audits, knowledgeable in GFSI requirements, and skilled at partnering with site leaders to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement. You communicate effectively at all levels and are comfortable working independently while traveling extensively.
What You’ll DoAs a Food Safety & Regulatory Auditor
, you will help ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all Mennel Milling Company human and animal food production facilities. You will conduct internal audits, support external audit readiness, and serve as a key corporate resource for food safety compliance and operational excellence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling and conducting internal food safety, quality, and regulatory audits across all production locations
- Reviewing Food Safety Plans, Food Defense Plans, and Environmental Monitoring Programs for compliance
- Serving as the primary contact for third‑party, customer, and regulatory audits, including unannounced visits
- Supporting Area Managers with audit responses and ensuring timely and effective CAPA completion
- Acting as a corporate resource to production sites for GFSI, FSMA, and food safety program implementation
- Providing guidance on policies, SOPs, prerequisite programs, and preventive controls
- Contributing to continuous improvement of company‑wide Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory strategies
- Ensuring facilities maintain an everyday audit‑ready condition
- Traveling up to 50%+ to audit and support food production facilities
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Director of Food Safety, Quality & Regulatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in food, beverage, or consumer goods manufacturing
- Prior experience in Quality Assurance, EHS, or Regulatory Compliance (preferred)
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, Food Safety Plans, preventive controls, and prerequisite programs
- PCQI certification required (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with GFSI auditing requirements (strongly desired)
- Active or inactive third‑party GFSI Auditor certification (preferred)
- Excellent technical writing, presentation, and training skills
- Strong computer proficiency and ability to analyze complex information
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with all levels of the organization
