Position

Summary

The QA Manager is responsible for monitoring the production process for compliance with codes, company policies and quality of products. This role also assists with training team members on the production line and communicates changes or modifications of the production process to the team.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Maintain current master copies of all documents in the office including supplier data, supplier audit reports, DAPIA, ECRs, records of changes, CEF forms, etc.
  • Distribute materials (DAPIA updates, supplier data, product standards, etc.) in a meeting environment with full explanation of changes or additions.
  • Review all change orders.
  • Review service trends on a weekly basis to identify weak areas in the production process.
  • Initiate ECRs for proposed changes or modifications of the DAPIA designs or Floor Plans.
  • Follow up on paper-work distributions to ensure changes are implemented in accordance with drawings and specifications.
  • Perform a systematic documented line inspection, in a 14-day rotation of CCI items, material installation, and observation of testing equipment.
  • Conduct daily inspection of labeled units and follow-up inspections of yard work and re-testing.
  • Ensure the QA Administration - FTC Database is updated routinely and monitor for repetitive issues or other quality concerns.
  • During IPIA inspections, ensure the Asst. QA Department Manager walks with the IPIA in their respective departments.
  • Debrief General Manager and Production Manager on daily IPIA findings.
  • Ensure HUD 302 reports, Alternate Construction reports and Energy Star reports are completed properly and reviewed monthly.
  • Ensure weekly DAPIA training with team members (more frequently as necessary based on quality issues).
  • Maintain QA Administrative database for Training.
  • Assist with training all new team members and department transfers; train and review new floor plans, DAPIA designs, Product Standards, and supplier data.
  • Ensure all testing personnel and their backups are certified as required.
  • Report all quality control and IPIA findings; address IPIA findings through the appropriate department managers using a Compliance Education Form (CEF).
  • Keep the General Manager, Production Manager, Home Office, and top problem areas informed of issues and repetitive concerns.
  • Maintain QA information boards as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience preferred in manufactured housing; leadership/management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality departments preferred.
  • Quality-related certifications preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of materials; ability to read and understand orders and prints.
  • Provide a great customer experience to retail stores.
  • Leadership ability to ensure parts are pulled in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Physical Demands:
    Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; may include stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and pulling; able to communicate via phone, email, and in person; must be able to exchange accurate information; work environment may be not temperature controlled with exposure to extreme temperatures; work primarily involves sitting/standing up to 4 hours at a time.
