Materials Specialist Series; Physical Laboratory

Job Location: Central Office, 1617 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO

Salary: Entry salary posted above. Intermediate starting salary $72,691.68. Senior starting salary $78,506.88.

• Prepare and test materials such as aggregates, concrete, bituminous mixtures, or general materials; utilize computers, electronic systems, and testing equipment for data entry, data collection, analysis, and preparation of laboratory testing reports.
• Prepare, tabulate and process test data for specification compliance; may prepare reports on investigation and develop recommendations for specific problems.
• Perform duties outlined in the quality system manuals, including completing competency exam evaluations, verifying results, demonstrating test procedures, and calibrating equipment; assist in quality control/quality assurance reference testing.
• Perform lead worker responsibilities, which may include providing general instruction, assigning and reviewing work, coaching and training, providing guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks, and providing input to the direct supervisor on staffing decisions and performance management.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET‑certified college or university curriculum.
• OSHA 10‑Hour Certification required within 90 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical‑physical examination.

• Job requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
• Job requires moderate physical activity.
• Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
• The official work location for this position is in Jefferson City. Remote work from an approved MoDOT location may be possible.
