Electrical Product Certification Field Technician

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Product Certification Field Technician for a part-time role in South Dakota, approximately 20 hours per week. This position involves planning and conducting surveillance inspections, primarily working remotely to prepare visits and document requirements for inspections. The role offers the flexibility of creating your own schedule and working from home when not traveling.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct surveillance inspections according to scheduling requirements.
  • Document manufacturer's production and quality processes.
  • Review required production tests, methods, equipment used, and calibration for listed products, sub-assemblies, and components with respect to the Certification Documents.
  • Review label inventory and control; review non-compliances from previous inspections and document unresolved issues.
  • Select samples as directed and document compliance and non-compliance during inspections.
  • Advise clients on proper resolution of issues found during inspections.
  • Complete and submit Follow-up Service Inspection Reports for each client inspected.
  • Facilitate communication between facility representatives and company personnel.
  • Maintain expenses within given guidelines.
Essential Skills
  • 5-10 years of experience in Electrical Test or Quality/Reliability Test Industry.
  • Experience in electronic/electrical testing, quality/reliability testing, engineering, electrical inspection, manufacturing, or quality control.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code and/or product compliance requirements to nationally recognized safety standards.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing setting with knowledge of Quality Control methods (ISO 9000, QS 9000, Lean Manufacturing, etc.).
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate with a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong computer skills with access to the internet (iPad, Zoom, M.Teams, etc.).

Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics/Systems Technologies.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology.
  • Proficiency in communicating via email, phone, and in person with customers.
  • Ability to use smart technology (iPad, Zoom, Teams, etc.).
  • Self-accountability to plan and manage weekly schedules.
Work Environment

This position is predominantly remote, with half of the work conducted at home preparing for job-site visits and documentation, and the other half on job-sites. Most travel is local within a 90-mile radius, although occasional overnight stays may be required. The role offers a flexible schedule, working Monday to Friday, with full-time hours of 40 per week. Candidates will support approximately 30 clients per quarter, using a personal vehicle with a national mileage reimbursement rate, and provided tools and company tablet.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
