Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of Level 3 Tester within our team NYS Integrated Eligibility Systems located in Albany, NY (hybrid).

This position is a 31 month contract. The mission of the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) is to enhance the well-being of New Yorkers by transforming health and human service delivery through coordinated business practices, modernized technology, and strategic partnerships. IES will provide eligibility, enrollment, case management, and payment functionality for Health and Human Service programs currently served by the Welfare Management System, Benefits Issuance Control System and other State systems.

IES will build on the successful opening of the New York State of Health (NYSoH) by leveraging assets created for the health benefit exchange to modernize the eligibility system for health and human service programs.

Key Responsibilities:

NYS is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality and reliability of a large-scale, mission-critical platform being modernized from a legacy monolith to a microservices architecture deployed on AWS - spanning web applications, REST APIs, batch processing, and system integrations. The QA engineer will be embedded in an Agile team, partnering with developers and business analysts to define test strategies, build automation, manual testing and catch defects early across all layers of the application.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical testing skills with a solid understanding of how data flows through distributed systems. The QA engineer should be comfortable working across both manual and automated testing, with a passion for delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for web, API, batch, and integration components
• Perform functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and exploratory testing across microservices
• Design and implement automated test suites for REST APIs and web applications
• Validate Spring Batch jobs for data accuracy, completeness, and performance under high-volume scenarios
• Test inter-service communication, messaging flows, and integration points with external agencies
• Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity classification
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
• Participate in sprint planning, story grooming, and definition of done discussions
• Perform database validation using SQL queries against PostgreSQL to verify data integrity
• Conduct performance and load testing for APIs and batch processes
• Verify deployments across environments (dev, QA, staging, production)
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline quality gates by maintaining and improving automated test coverage
• Review and provide feedback on technical and functional documentation

Other duties as assigned. Consultants may be eligible to telecommute for more than 50% of their work hours, up to and including 100% remote work. Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed.
