Senior Asset Manager - Multifamily Portfolio
Our client is a privately held real estate investment and asset management firm with a growing portfolio of multifamily investments throughout California. The firm specializes in acquiring, repositioning, and operating value-add apartment communities while creating long-term value for its investors.
They are seeking an experienced Asset Manager to oversee the financial and operational performance of a multifamily portfolio in Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto while also serving as the primary liaison between ownership and third-party property management. Hybrid, work from home. Work in San Francisco office 1/week.
This is a high-impact role that offers significant visibility with executive leadership and the opportunity to influence investment performance across an expanding portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Drive financial performance across a portfolio of multifamily assets.
- Partner with third-party property management companies to maximize NOI and asset value.
- Analyze monthly operating statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
- Develop and execute business plans for each asset.
- Monitor leasing performance, occupancy, rent growth, concessions, and expense management.
- Evaluate capital improvement projects and renovation initiatives.
- Collaborate with acquisitions, finance, and construction teams during acquisitions and asset repositioning.
- Present portfolio performance and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and increase property value.
- Support refinancing, disposition, and recapitalization activities as needed.
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of multifamily asset management experience.
- Experience overseeing institutional or private equity real estate portfolios.
- Strong financial modeling and underwriting skills.
- Deep understanding of multifamily operations and property management.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred
- Experience with value-add or opportunistic multifamily investments.
- Exposure to acquisitions and capital projects.
- Familiarity with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management platforms.
- Experience working with third-party property managers across multiple markets.
