The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA‑affiliated research institute. These one‑to‑three‑year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Eligibility is limited to applicants who are not Senior Fellows (5 years or more past PhD). The research focus involves clouds, especially the frozen phase, and associated microphysics and modeling. Applicants may pursue one or more of the following subtopics:
- Ice microphysics remote sensing from infrared to microwave spectra (TIR, FIR, sub‑mm, MW).
- Cloud retrieval algorithm development focusing on polarimetric signals, new FIR or sub‑mm bands, and/or ML/AI approaches.
- ML/AI application for system/pattern tracking on satellite images across platforms.
- Cloud‑wave coupling at turbulence to gravity wave scales, from planetary boundary layer to the mesosphere and above.
Field of Science:
Earth Science.
