Position Summary
The Rutgers Air Quality Lab led by Dr. Xiaomeng Jin within the Department of Environmental Sciences at Rutgers University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on remote sensing of air quality.
The role will focus on using satellite observations to understand the impacts of wildfires and prescribed burning on air quality. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field (Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering) by the time of appointment. Background in atmospheric remote sensing is strongly preferred. Experience with atmospheric models (e.g., GEOS‑Chem, CMAQ) and skills in python, Fortran and high-performance computing are also desired.
ResponsibilitiesThis position will involve designing and executing remote sensing studies, analyzing satellite data, developing and validating atmospheric models, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to assess air quality impacts of fire events.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in atmospheric science, environmental science, environmental chemistry, or related fields.
- Strong background in atmospheric remote sensing.
- Experience with atmospheric models such as GEOS‑Chem or CMAQ.
- Proficiency in Python, Fortran, and high-performance computing.
