Plant Scientist – Field Research Lead
This role focuses on agronomic development and commercialization of a new crop, working closely with project management, lead agronomists, and cross‑functional partners to design learning goals, conduct field trials, collect and analyze data, and develop commercial‑scale protocols.
Responsibilities- Act as local lead for agronomic development toward commercialization of a new crop.
- Collaborate with Project Management to design learning goals and execute field trials.
- Manage multiple research collaborations and collect/analyze field data.
- Develop commercial‑scale protocols across the agronomic spectrum.
- Lead and perform extensive in‑field trial work, field management, and data collection & organization.
- Lead 1–2 junior scientists to accurately collect, analyze, and document data for genetic, plant architecture, phenotyping, and growth information.
- Conceive, design, conduct, and report research in field and greenhouse settings to improve production, yield, nutrient uptake, and crop design.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with research partners and manage technical aspects of partnerships.
- Prepare documentation of study results and procedures, ensuring data security and proprietary protection.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and support agricultural team across projects.
- Master’s degree or higher in Horticultural Science, agronomy, botany, genetics, or related field with 5+ years experience; or BS with 10+ years experience.
- Familiarity with agricultural practices of the Southwest U.S. and field trial methodology.
- Ability to perform in‑field tasks in outdoor environments with high temperatures.
- Experience working independently and in a team to complete projects on time.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with cross‑functional team members and external partners.
- Live within commuting distance of West Central / Southwest Arizona or willing to relocate.
- Capable of performing physically demanding field activities.

105,740–130,620 (US locations only; compensation may vary by location, role, skills, performance, and experience).
